Chew on This: Resistance

chew on this Aug 08, 2022

When you push something away, it has a way of coming back and multiplying in strength. This is the very premise of why diets and calorie-counting fail to produce long-term results.

This goes for anything, whether it’s an individual food like potato chips or grapes, or calories and food all together. The object of restriction will haunt you until it breaks you down, and you eat the entire bag.

If you can get your head wrapped around this idea, you’ve won half of the battle.

When you resist the extra weight on your body, it will persist and even multiply. Does this mean you should be complacent and do nothing about it? Should you leave those extra fifty pounds alone and continue to eat the same foods, in the same quantities that got you there in the first place? Of course not.

Am I suggesting you eat the entire bag of potato chips, because after all, it would show that you aren’t resisting the chips? Now that would be just plain silly, wouldn’t it?

This is not about complacency; it’s about accepting and embracing where you are right now.

You don’t have to love it, but you must accept and make peace with it, if you ever want to move forward.

There is no other way to break free from the chains of food addiction, excess weight, or poor health than to make peace with where you’re at in this moment.

Release all resistance to what is.
